What To Do When Windows 10 Mic Is Not Working?
If you’ve recently updated your Windows 10 operating system, chances are your app doesn’t have permission to use the microphone. If you’ve also recently updated your Windows 10 and getting a Mic Not Working problem, then you are not alone In that case, we suggest you follow the steps below:
To give the apps permission to use the microphone on your device, click on the Start icon first.
Go to Settings and then Privacy.
Navigate and select the Microphone option.
Click on Change and then enable “Allow apps to access your microphone”.
Once you have allowed the apps to use the microphone, next you need to select the apps that you want to give permission to. Turn on the switch next to the app you want to have the access to the microphone. Also, to allow non-Microsoft apps to have access to your microphone, enable the “Allow Desktop Apps To Access Your Microphone” option.
If the problem you are facing is while calling someone, then make sure of the below-mentioned things.
In case your headset has a mute button, make sure it is not on.
Make sure your headset is connected properly to your computer. Try disconnecting and connecting it again.

Select System and then Sound.
Make sure your microphone is selected in the Input device field.

Microphone Volume Low Or Not Working At All
If along with the microphone not working issue, the volume of your microphone is also too low, or if your microphone isn’t working at all, then read the steps given below:
Make sure your headset is connected properly to the headphone jack.
Try increasing the volume of your microphone. If you don’t know how to do that, then follow the steps below:
Go to Start and select Settings.
Click on System and then Sound.
Make sure your headset is selected under the Choose your input device option.
Now click on Device Properties and go to the Levels tab.
Here you can adjust the volume of your Microphone by boosting the sliders as much as you need. Once done just click on OK.
Click on the Test your microphone option and then speak into the microphone. If the line is moving from left to right, it indicates that your Microphone is working. In case you don’t see any changes here then the microphone is not working.
Others Not Hearing Sound On Skype Calls
First of all, start with ensuring that your headset or microphone is set as the default recording device on Skype.
Now open the Skype application.
On the upper right side of the Contacts List, click on More.
Select Settings and then in the Audio and Video section make sure your headset is selected under Microphone.
Also under speakers select your preferred spreader or microphone.
